Fall Florals & Flares

The last couple of the days the weather has taken a slightly chilly turn and so I am glad I made the most of the mild autumn weather when I did. I have had this floral blouse for a few years and it still remains to be one of my most treasured pieces and I love wearing it this time of year. This Fall I paired my floral favourite with my wide leg, high waisted flares, a denim style that I always find flattering but this year autumn in particular, I have found many ways to wear and style these jeans and this look is one of them! The flares and the floral blouse have a somewhat bohemian feel when paired together but to make the boho vibes feel a little more polished and luxe I teamed them with classic accessories that included my brown leather pointed boots, a black tote bag, a plaited belt and a cashmere wrap for some added warmth, oh and of course not to forget a headband too, for that final touch. I feel like this week has flown by but I am rather excited for the weekend, the pre-christmas festivities are about to begin in our household, follow my instagram @lellavictoria to see more over the coming days.

Pre-Fall Neutrals

Happy Friday lovelies, before we head into the weekend I just wanted to share this look with you. When we shot these photos, to begin with the lighting was perfect but then just as we were snapping away, it began to get a little busy and so we took a break, I am still painfully shy about the attention taking photos in a small village can sometimes bring, not necessarily bad or verbal attention, I can just feel people staring and it makes anxious, I wish I could overcome that but it is what it is. So yeah by the time we got back to taking the photos it had become significantly darker, but the way lighting was hitting my outfit was pretty awesome, it was making it almost like a blackout behind me and so thankfully we were able to make it work! This cream denim skirt that i’m styling in today’s post is one I have owned for a few years but found that I didn’t really wear it too much, the length was always a bit awkward and so this year I decided to cut it and make it into more or midi style. I much prefer this way and it was instantly more wearable and much easier to style. Though I wore this in the height of summer I save publishing it until now because I felt it had a great pre-fall vibe to it. I always like more neutrals in the lead up to Autumn, i’m the same way in the lead up to Spring, as I find neutrals work perfectly for the inbetween stages of seasons. You may have also noticed the bag and this is the same bag as the one I shared with you here on Lellavictoria back along (see Here) only this is the black version. I did wonder whether it would take the joy out of the bag, having two of the same with the colour being the only variation but I absolutely love both equally and in fact, I think that having two keeps me from become bored of them.

I hope you like today’s look. Sending you love and light for the weekend ahead,

The Investment Piece

Hey lovelies, today I wanted to zoom in on a piece that has become an absolute favourite of mine and you may have already noticed it popping up in my more recent outfit posts. Last year I had my eyes on this beautiful bag by Little Liffner because I was looking to invest in a good quality bag, a bag that is classic, understated, a bag that goes with almost everything and a bag that is easy to reach in and out of rather effortlessly. This one appeared to be by number one choice but I wasn’t a hundred percent sure on it and decided to think it over a little while longer before I actually made the investment. Anyway, last year I ended up not buying it but the thing was I really felt like all of my looks were missing a bag like this and as much I love using my black structured bag, it really isn’t the most practical and especially when Novarose is with me. So, I finally made the decision to get the bag and needless to say I have zero regrets and have been using it relentlessly! After I received this bag, I instantly knew I would have to get the other colours too. It comes in a black and cream also and thankfully I can already tick the black one off my list because I was surprised with it for my birthday (back in July) and it’s just as gorgeous as the brown. Anyway I am really loving this investment piece and that’s why I thought I would give it it’s own blogpost.

Lighter Layers and Classic Styles

Arket Trench Coat – HERE Arket t-shirt – HERE COS Shirt – HERE Whistles Bag – HERE & Other Stories Jeans – HERE

Happy Tuesday lovelies, here is an outfit from this Spring. Here in the UK the lead up to summer hasn’t been the warmest and so light layering is something that is somewhat of a sartorial necessity in England. Back in the beginning of spring I finally got myself a spring coat in a linen and cotton material, perfect for colder spring and summer days. It’s a great classic piece and looks great with a variation of styles, I just can’t believe its taken me this long to actually buy one! Here I layered it over a light pink shirt (last styled Here) and kept it casually simple with dark blue denim. I mentioned Here, earlier in the spring that wearing my shirts open over simple tees is my favourite way of styling them right now and this also looks great with a coat, jacket or blazer on top to create a lightly layered look whilst still being conduit with the season. I hope you have a great start to your week. Sending you love and light, Daniella x

Going For Green

How are we at Friday already? This week has flown by and I am hoping we are going to get a lovely spring weekend but we’ll see. This was outfit was from a few weeks ago and would you believe that the whole day I was wearing this outfit, it was sunny and warm and I ended up not needing to even wear my coat but when it came to shooting these photos in the early evening, the sun disappeared, it got cold and it was very almost too dark to shoot! I wasn’t overwhelmed with the photos but at least it was enough to capture the outfit.

I’m really enjoying this green combination right now, both the cardigan and t-shirt are old but have only just found their way to being styled together. Green is certainly having a moment in 2022 and though I like to keep an eye on trends and integrate them into my existing style if they feel right for me and my taste but I have to say I am particularly happy to see this colour become more popular amongst retailers and is a colour that seems to be much more accessible this year! Because as much as I enjoy this colour, I only have a few pieces in this brighter shade of green, as I couldn’t seem to find much of this colour in styles that I liked in previous years. If you like today’s look, I have picked out some similar pieces that you can shop below.

Well, wishing you happy Friday and wonderful weekend,

Subtle Layering and Equestrian Inspired

Happy Friday lovelies, I hope you have all had a good week. I’ve felt a bit overwhelmed this week, like my brains been a bit frantic, frazzled and easily irritated but I’m trying to sit with the energy and navigate through it. I’m naturally quite impatient with myself and when I feel off balance, whether it be mentally, emotionally or physically, I kind of just want it to pass almost immediately because I don’t like it and feel uncomfortable when I Don’t feel like my best self but realistically, I know it doesn’t happen just like that! We have good days, we have bad days, sometimes weeks and months of feeling off and sometimes just a weird afternoon or a grumpy morning! Accepting that life is made up of polarity definitely helps guide me through with a little more ease and reminds me of the patience I need to practice with myself. Anyway, I could dive into this topic but i’m keeping it short today because i’ve done a few lengthly posts this week.

Let’s focus on the look of today, what do you think about it? I swapped my winter coat for one more suited for spring, though I took it off for a few photos because I wanted to share with you the subtle layering of the shirt and knitted tabard underneath the blazer. I styled this with another current favourite combination of mine right now, these light wash jeans with my dark brown knee-high boots for that chic equestrian look (a combination last seen here) . I live in a part of the country where there is a lot of equestrianism around and that undoubtedly has an influence on my style from time to time. Well, I hope you like today’s style of the day. Wishing you a happy Friday and a wonderful weekend. Love and light to you,

Subtle Outfit Details With My Favourite Wardrobe Basic

& Other Stories Coat – HERE Ray ban Sunglasses – HERE WEEKDAY Sweater – HERE Arket Tee – HERE Arket Jeans – HERE Veja – HERE

Hey lovelies, here is a simple and a casual combination that I wore a few weeks ago for a Saturday spent running a couple errands. I do love an outfit made up of casual basics such as my go-to jeans, a white tee and a comfy sweater. I opted for sneakers to keep to that low-key vibe but then I added in the long navy coat because I felt this lent the look an elegant twist and was a little less predictable then let’s say a puffer jacket, plus I thought this was more springlike and I also liked the tonal layering with the double feature of navy.

It’s good to remember too that a simple detail like keeping the bottom and top of your basic white tee visible when layering, though not exactly a groundbreaking detail it is nevertheless an impactful one. Basic white tees are absolutely are one of the integral pieces that create the foundations of my wardrobe. I can’t have enough white tees but honestly you don’t have to own loads just a few ones of relatively good quality. I like the crew neck styles from Arket, as I feel they are fairly priced, they wash up really well and they come in lots of different colours but without doubt the white tee is definitely my personal favourite!

Timeless Style and Fashion Trends

Hey lovelies, today Im back with another outfit that was taken on the beautiful moors of exmoor. We were driving over to see my grandparents and we have to drive past this beautiful vast amount of land when we do and I simply can’t resist getting out and snapping some shots.

The other morning I was thinking about style vs fashion and I have always championed style over fashion and though I stand by that, I also feel that fashion for me, is an integral part in this. I don’t follow catwalk collections as much as I used to and mainly because it takes up a lot of time going through them all and with a little one, I have had to prioritise my time differently over the last couple of years but I always have and continue to be inspired by catwalk collections. I love seeing the artistry of them and It’s exciting to see the colours, the materials, the shapes, hemlines and details that are to surface or in this day and age, resurface that create certain trends for the season. I enjoy seeing the Trends trickle down through to the smaller designer brands and the high street favourites, where we get to see their approach to the emerging trends.

I do not consider myself trend driven, I am big believer in investing in timeless classics that can be reimagined over the years and styled time and time again. That said, like any aspect of my life, I wouldn’t like to think of my style definable and as much as I enjoy the wardrobe staples that I always return to, I love the fun aspect of current styles. See just because a certain style is currently trending doesn’t mean you should stay away from it and trends don’t always have to go hand in hand with fast fashion. Items that we consider wardrobe staples now started off as a trend to one degree or another. I have pieces that I bought a few years ago that seemed more current and of the moment but a few years later and that piece is still serving a sartorial purpose. Of course there are some items that have turned out to be flops and felt tired very quickly but even so I had fun wearing them at the time and I tend to keep most things I buy because it all has a way of coming back around in one form or another.

I guess what I am saying is that not all trends are bad and you don’t have to choose between trends and classic style, the two can come together and harmonise. When you feel drawn to a particular trend and you find a piece that you want to purchase, then envision how that piece can integrate with your more timeless pieces because in my experience mixing my older items with a new addition is quite often what feels like the most authentic and unique way to express my personal style. Not all trends will stand the test of time and building a wardrobe with good sartorial foundations by investing in pieces that are going to see you through season after season and is possible in a good quality material, is where your money is best spent. But there will be times where you might be intrigued by an item that is a little fun, edgy, colourful, risky and more of the moment.

Fashion is supposed to be fun, so have fun with it and look for conscientious brands that are more thoughtful to the environment because you can buy into trends without buying into fast fashion, it just will take some extra care and thoughtfulness. Like a lot of trends and unlike wardrobe classics, its highly likely you will tire of a trend you try out and if you do remember that are lots of places you can re-sell your items. Or There is always donating to a charity shop or a refuge facility. I think we just have to take a little more care.

It seems crazy that I would choose todays outfit post to talk about this, its a pretty classic outfit but I think that it just shows that i’m not promoting fast fashion and that you can have chic and timeless style but you can also flirt with trends and have fun with fashion too.

Sending you love and light, may we all, in whatever way feels right to you visualise a big blanket of light, love and protection surrounding our world, may we imagine a world where our world leaders are free from ego, greed and anger.

My Approach To Styling Winter Browns

Happy Monday lovelies, todays look shares some pieces I received for christmas and because I became unwell just after the new year, it took me a minute to style these pieces into a look! The trousers and the knit are from one of my favourite british brands, Olive. I don’t usually style an outfit using different items all from the same brand, as I prefer to mix and match brands, or combine old pieces of mine with newer ones. But because my only rule when it comes to personal style, is I have no rules ( I tend to lean towards guidelines over rules) I was able to make an exception to and go ahead by styling both these wool trousers and knitted sweater that are both from Olive, together. Some may find all the brown too much, but I felt it worked because whenever you’re styling a lot of the same colour into one look, that one of the best ways to break it up, is by bringing in texture and this combination certainly had texture and especially with the rich brown of the suede boots! Though it is a little tricky to see, the fedora is this beautifully rich navy blue colour which was a nice contrast to the browns, plus I felt this timeless style bought a continuation to the overall androgyny of the outfit.

Well, that’s all from todays outfit post.

The Long Coat

I had really hoped to up my coat game this winter but I have struggled to find any if i’m being honest. There just doesn’t seem to be many out there that are appealing to me. Either I find a style that I love but is just that bit too much, price wise. Or when I do find one I love at the price point I am comfortable with, its out of stock and continues to stay out of stock! We tend to have long cold winters here in the UK, not always absolutely freezing but definitely consistently cold and usually this will continue into the spring. For some people one coat that is functional for the winter can keep them going for years and thats completely fair enough and justified but for me, I love having a range of coats to choose from because otherwise I get bored!

Some years, I won’t invest in any outwear and then other years I might give my wardrobe a few new jacket and/or coats just for a sartorial refresh that is more suited for my current taste, though I always try and keep them classic because longevity is a continual theme in my wardrobe. There has been one exception to my lack of coat findings and that’s this navy coat from & Other Stories that you may have seen featured a few times here on LellaVictoria.com. Here and Here are two more ways I’ve styled the coat. A longline navy wrap coat may not seem very ground braking or exciting and i’d have to agree but it has undoubtedly been a great investment and i’m yet to find an outfit it doesn’t work with. It has been in heavy rotation this past autumn and now winter season and I would adore this style in a lighter colour too, a beige or camel, which & Other Stories do sell but unsurprisingly it always seems to be out of stock in my size. But I will nevertheless be keeping my eyes peeled and I refuse to give on my coat search. Do you like expanding on your coat selection too? Or do you like keep to a trusty favourite? I hope you have enjoyed todays outfit post.
