Denim By The Beach

Happy Monday lovelies! Well, I’m definitely shooting more content then I am posting here on Lellavictoria but I’m trying not to be too hard on myself about that. Anyway, even though its the middle of July and just the thought of knitwear in this current heatwave makes me sweat! Though with that said there is an exception because there is something about being at the beach late into the evening, as the sun is going down and there is a cool sea breeze and I throw a cosy sweater on, to keep the chill at bay and that is when the presence of knitwear is welcomed in the midst of a heatwave. I know this is a very simple look, but its timeless and let’s face it, nothing beats a good denim and sweater combo.

I hope you have a wonderful new week, sending you love and light, Daniella x

OOTD: A Contemporary Take On Sporty Styles

Happy Friday lovelies, here is a look to finish off the week. These trousers kinda remind me of a pair of classic chinos but with a much wider fit. When I first looked through these photos I didn’t like the way the trousers were hanging, they were ballooning and I felt as though the photos weren’t capturing the real hang of the trousers! But as I came to actually edit them, I ended up really quite admiring the voluminous for that they ended up taking. These photos were taken on a much cooler spring day and so a simple sweater and casual sneakers was a perfect pairing for creating a low key vibe that was somewhat sporty and contemporary. The sweater i’m westing is a really deep green colour and I know it doesn’t really show through the photos which is a shame because it is such a great colour.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend,

Daniella x

Always Stripes In Spring

Happy Tuesday lovelies, I hope you had a lovely weekend! Here in the UK we had a bank holiday weekend, which was nice, though it was a quiet one this time and we didn’t get as much sun as the last bank holiday weekend but nevertheless having the extra day of family time is always a treat. Though I am a fan of stripes all year round, there is undoubtedly something very spring-like about them in where they feel extra fitting for this time of year. For my first outfit of 2022 that features stripes, I opted for a knitted striped piece that I invested in last spring and styled it with some cream trousers for a simple spring combination. I love this sweater because the stripes feel refreshing and make me think of sandy beaches and the sound of the ocean as this classic nautical print often does, but the knitted nature of it also feel warm and comforting whilst there is still a bit of a chill in the air.

Like I said this striped knit was from last spring but HERE & HERE are some similar styles in-case you were looking for something similar. Last year I wore this knitted sweater a lot and even throughout the summer because we have a lot of cooler summer days here in the uk and whether you pair it with tailored trousers like the ones i’m wearing or style it with something more casual like your favourite jeans, it is a great foundational piece that is versatile and integrates effortlessly into ones wardrobe. Wear with linen shorts like these HERE for a combination that is cool and casual for when it is a bit warmer or pair with a skirt like this one HERE for something a little more sleek. Like I said, it’s a super versatile style.

I hope you like my spring look of the day. Sending you love and light for the week ahead,

Daniella x

Hey lovelies, sharing a post with some comfortable pieces, in soft and cosy layers and in a mix of neutral tones and shades. I am wearing these split hem leggings which I bought in the sales a month or so ago and aside from the fact that they are super comfy, I also admire the subtle diversity they bring to the outfit. They are warm and cosy for the winter season we are currently in but I also love the idea of pairing them with lighter layers in the spring. As you’ve seen, I have also shared some neutral pieces that are inspired by todays style post. I hope you like my picks.

Sending you an abundance of love, light and protection,

Knitwear For Spring Wear

Happy Monday lovelies, it’s continues to be a colder spring but at least I have this chic knit to keep me warm. Yes, this grey sweater by Arket has been my recent go-to and is a great alternative to a spring jacket, an item that I am currently pretty low on. I’d really like to invest in a trench coat but I am really particular on both the style and colour and so it simply hasn’t happened and though I didn’t plan on still wearing chunky knitwear at this point In the year, I did my best to make it spring-like with the white jeans and tan bag. Are you still wearing warmer clothes this spring? Or are you in your loose linens, floaty florals and crisp cottons?

Sending you love and light,

Daniella xx

Styling 90’s Minimal

“Like many of my investment pieces, there are times where I don’t wear it as much and then there are times where it is in heavy rotation but that’s why staples/classics are so important when creating a sustainable wardrobe.”

Don’t you think today’s look has a 90’s minimal kinda vibe. I bought out a few of my old classics like this silk shirt that I bought years ago from Topshop, which has served me so so well over the years. Like many of my investment pieces, there are times where I don’t wear it as much and then there are times where it is in heavy rotation but that’s why staples/classics are so important when creating a sustainable wardrobe.

I stopped posting on here last week out of respect to George Floyd and all the people out there protesting for him. It didn’t feel right to post (it still doesn’t) and I wanted to concentrate on educating myself, taking responsibility for my own ignorance and conditioned thinking and also post (on Instagram) my own feelings and thoughts to try and help bring awareness to the modern day genocide that black men and women are currently facing in America and amongst the police especially. I don’t have a big following but as collective we have to keep raising awareness, whilst learning ourselves and excepting nothing less then success in ending racism once and for all, so that the next generation don’t have to pay the price for our ignorance any more. I’m sorry if you come here to escape what’s happening, trust me I do to, it’s my safe space for the most part but how can I keep quiet on such important and necessary issues?! I can’t and so I won’t.

Sending you love and light for the week ahead,

Daniella xx

Finishing of the week with this outfit post. These Photos were taken over a month ago and I think this was the last time we went to town on a Saturday afternoon, something we would do most weekends. Ah how I do miss going for our Saturday lunches, it was always something would look forward to throughout the week. I look forward to when this is behind us and we can get back to the things that we love to do outside of the home and hopefully we will learn to never again take for granted the everyday day things that bring moments of joy.

But for now we just have to keep taking the preventative we are taking and do our best to make the most of this time.  I don’t think I’ve shared this cardigan on the blog before but it from & Other Stories during the winter and I know we are in spring and the summer is feeling ever closer but I love the statement a cardigan like this makes. I missed out on buying it originally and I was gutted but then I stalked the site in the hope of the possible odd return and well, it paid off. I think it could look cute on summer evenings with a plain vest top and denim cut off’s.

Well, that’s all for this weeks post. Hopefully next week will it be a another productive week here on LellaVictoria.

Sending love and light,

Daniella x

Being A Mum Vs Taking Outfit Photos

I wondered when I was pregnant with Nova-Rose how photographing my outfits was going to fair once my little bundle of joy was here. It’s been just over a year and though its been challenging, I would say we’ve managed for the most part to find a way to shoot my looks. This winter has probably been the hardest, the winter is always tricky anyway, the light has gone but the time my boyfriend gets home from work and so I rely on my mum to take them and I will leave Nova with my sister, she lives right next door, so it works when she’s home. But this winter I’ve definitely had to do more inside shoots and all I can do is embrace it as it’s about making the best of ones circumstances, I’d grow tired of trying to fight it otherwise.

Now the evenings are steadily becoming lighter once again, hopefully we’ll be able to schedule in more outside shoots. I do miss going to locations to shoot my photos, nowadays it’s more about making the best of my surroundings in where we are at the time and that’s not always the most inspiring creatively speaking. But like when styling clothes I always think “it’s not what you wear, it’s how you wear it” and I guess the same applies when shooting photos in a location that isn’t the most desirable. Mummy life is incredible but it’s still a working progress in synthesising my blessing of being a mum and my personal pursuits.

Sending you love and light for the week ahead,

Daniella x

After the Christmas break I was left feeling like I am in a place where i want to take a slightly more leisurely pace with m blogposts. Now, I’ll admit I often feel like this going into the new year and then I slip into the habit of pushing myself and I don’t know why because my blog is a place for me to share my creativity, it’s a hobby that continues to be an enjoyable experience and yes as much I would it to be place of earning also because who doesn’t want to make money doing what they love but the truth is I make no money from it apart from a small amount of commission via affiliate links but that’s few and far between because I still don’t really know how to utilise that.

Anyway, I really just want to get back to the natural flow of things, there is no need to put unwarranted pressure on myself to get posts published within a certain time frame. I’ll edit photos when I can in a manner that calm and enjoyable. I want to be completely present whilst raising my baby girl, she is almost one and time feels like it’s zoomed by and I honestly don’t want to miss a moment and so panicking to get a post done is just a mindset that I’m focusing on changing. Blogging is fun and I want it remain that way.

Onto my outfit and this shirt jacket was actually one of the first pieces I bought back at the beginning of autumn but oddly I only started wearing and styling it in December and now I can’t stop wearing it! I love this jacket and it’s quickly becoming my go-to piece, I find it effortless to style and as a full time mum but who still loves the creative process of getting dressed, effortless items to style have now become an important aspect of my clothing choices. Keeping it simple, androgynous and a little edgy for today’s look and I hope you like it.

Transitional Dressing & Fighting Fatigue

Trying to stay positive right now but I’m finding life a little challenging at the moment. Our baby girl has been sleeping terribly these last few weeks, we think it’s the 8 month sleep regression, that and the never ending teething! She’s now also picked up a horrid cold which has been keeping her up even more. I know it’s way worse for her and all I want to do is take it all away from her because undoubtedly she’s more uncomfortable then I am but it’s still very tiring for us. As you may know I also suffer with M E (Epstein-Barr) and so I’m not just “mum not getting enough sleep” tired but I’m feeling run down with fatigue too.

Ah I hate it when it sounds like I’m moaning on here but I’m just trying to keep things real on here. I’m also so desperate to get my creative juices flowing with some autumnal activities but  between Nova-Rose not sleeping, me not sleeping, feeling unwell, catching cold after cold, there is also the non stop rain! Despite my moaning and groaning tone I am doing my best to stay positive, go with the flow, trust that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be right now and know that easier and lighter days are ahead. Please forgive my “mum life is so hard” rant.

Moving on to sartorial matters and this black on black combo and black looks may not be the best choice for someone who takes photos of their outfits (they don’t really pop) but I can’t let that stop me from wearing what I want. A classic turtleneck with the longer length shorts was for me a perfect transitional look proportionally speaking. The high neck vs the shorts worked well for the chill in the air, not too warm, not too cold.

Sending you love and light,

Daniella x
