Summer To Autumn Textures

Happy Wednesday lovelies, can we even believe it’s the last day of September tomorrow! October is one of my most favourite months because to me, that’s really the beginning of Fall. That’s when the leaves really beginning to cover the ground, when the temperature usually starts to drop to that nice chill and well, I am hoping it won’t be a month of rain and instead crisp days with some autumn sun, so we can get out and make some visits to a few of our favourite places and experience them in the Autumn. But, this is the country of relentless rain, so we will just have to see. Here is a look that I wore a few weeks back, where I began to combine textures that were both of our current season and the one to come. Mixing cool linen in a neutral beige tone with a navy wool cardigan seemed more harmonious then one may originally think. Also do we think basket bags can be taken into the Autumn, I personally think they don’t have end once the summer ends, In fact I believe it looks quite parisian to carry round a basket bag whilst wearing a tailored coat or a knitted cardigan. But that opinion is just my own, others may feel differently. Well, I hope you like today’s casual and simplistic take on summer to autumn style.

OOTD: Summer In Grey

Happy Monday lovelies, I hope you enjoyed your weekend however it was spent.

Grey isn’t typically a colour o tend to gravitate to this time of year, which is odd because I love wearing black in the summer but nevertheless it was fun styling a piece what would typically be assumed to be more of an autumn/winter item. Paired with some simple black flip flops, a tank top and because it was colder that day I threw on my oversized cardigan which yes, it was necessary but I also did appreciate the warm neutral colour tone it lent to the black and grey pallet. Do you wear grey in the summer? It’s not a colour I wear a lot during these warmer months but this time I think it worked.

Sending you love and light! Enjoy your new week,

Daniella x

Simplicity & Gentleness Both In Style and Life

Happy Monday lovelies, I hope you had a lovely weekend.

A casual outfit post to start the week where I’m wearing this crisp caramel coloured shirt and light wash jeans, both of which I bought from Arket in the spring. These pieces have transitioned into my wardrobe effortlessly and this shirt in particular has become to be a new favourite! love its shape, fit and material and so much so that I bought it in white too and plan on buying it in black and probably all the other colours its available in! Whilst spending so much extra time at home I find that its simple and comfortable staples like I’m wearing today that have become worthy investments. I have already got many outfits out of this shirt and I’m sure I will for years to come.

I know for a lot of people life is starting to get back to normal, or at least the new normal but I’m continuing to self isolate for the most part and so little things to help keep my mood elevated and calm is important for my day to day living and especially so as a mum to a one year old. For me, a simple candle with a soothing scent is a small luxury that can make the world of difference. If I’m not already burning some essential oils, I often light a candle for a few hours in the morning, to help encourage a happy start to the day or I light it for a few hours in the evening to help wind down before going to bed.

Going for gentle walks at least a couple times a week is Currently one of the best ways to get closer to nature and a wonderful way to clear my head as well as keep a little fitter in a way that isn’t too challenging as someone with M.E. I also like to collect a some wild grasses or sprigs of greenery ( I only take a small amount and usually in areas where it’s overgrown, don’t judge me!) and that way I can bring a little of the outside in. Another thing I like to do when I have a bit of time to myself is look on Pinterest and even though I have used Pinterest for years, I still love it and especially in times like these. I love Looking at images of dreamy places, yummy foods, interior decor and of course street style for outfit inspo. I find it a great way to help me to stay creative and inspired. So those are just a few of the things I like to do during these times.

Wishing you a great week. Sending love and light to you all, Daniella xx

Bedroom Decor – The Bud Vase

A few weeks ago my mum surprised me with this sweet bud vase. We both loved it and so she bought one for herself and kindly, one for me too. I’ve been touching up our bedroom recently, this is not a complete redecorating project just a little facelift with some new bedding and a few home decorations. I’ve tried to declutter our bedroom a little bit, which was a little tough because I like having my things around me but I was also finding it distracting every time I walked into our room, so clearing through it, so that I can start a fresh seems to be the best option right now. A sweet vase like this looks perfect with just a sprig of greenery and is perfect for bringing some style to your bedside table.

Sending you love and light,

Time goes by so quickly and weirdly even more so when you’re doing almost the same thing day after day. These photos were taken not long before going into self isolation and it was on our way to see my grandparents that we stopped to take these photos. At the time, little did we know that it would be the last time we would see my grandparents for months. I always try and schedule in time for a photo session when we visit them because not only is the village where they live beautifully idyllic but the drive there also goes over the incredibly vast exmoor moors which is quite possibly one of my favourite sites and especially if we are lucky enough to catch site of the exmoor ponies, which thankfully that day, we were.

It was blowing the most freezing cold winds when we snapped these, hence why there isn’t much diversity in the images! After five minutes I wanted to hop back in warm car but we were able to get a few shots that I was happy enough with. I miss doing my outdoors photo shoots, I miss seeing my grandparents and especially this time of year, as we usually see them a bit more in the spring but I’m just thankful that they are keeping safe. I can’t imagine how worrying it is for a lot of people who have grandparents in care homes and if there is anyone reading this who is in that position, I send you my love and I know that probably doesn’t give you any relief but sending out our loving thoughts is sometimes all we have. I bought this green coat at the end of winter and I didn’t get much wear out of it before the temperature changed and it began to get warmer but this isn’t a bad thing, it means next winter it will feel like new!

Well, I’m going to finish it there.

Sending lots of love and light,

Daniella xx

Finishing of the week with this outfit post. These Photos were taken over a month ago and I think this was the last time we went to town on a Saturday afternoon, something we would do most weekends. Ah how I do miss going for our Saturday lunches, it was always something would look forward to throughout the week. I look forward to when this is behind us and we can get back to the things that we love to do outside of the home and hopefully we will learn to never again take for granted the everyday day things that bring moments of joy.

But for now we just have to keep taking the preventative we are taking and do our best to make the most of this time.  I don’t think I’ve shared this cardigan on the blog before but it from & Other Stories during the winter and I know we are in spring and the summer is feeling ever closer but I love the statement a cardigan like this makes. I missed out on buying it originally and I was gutted but then I stalked the site in the hope of the possible odd return and well, it paid off. I think it could look cute on summer evenings with a plain vest top and denim cut off’s.

Well, that’s all for this weeks post. Hopefully next week will it be a another productive week here on LellaVictoria.

Sending love and light,

Daniella x

The Knitted Vest & How I Styled It

DSC_3745DSC_3851DSC_3725Untitled-38DSC_3838DSC_3735Untitled-39DSC_3779DSC_3852

It feels like ages since I last did an outfit post! Last week I decided not to post anything because I felt as though I was rushing to get my photos edited and posted. And because I like to do my best to create quality content, I thought I wouldn’t post and instead I’d use the time to prepare this weeks posts. This way I am able to (hopefully) deliver both quality and quantity in a way That I am proud of. The only downside is that my photos are getting even more backed up, with outfit photos being taken from over a month ago, that are still yet to be posted. I’m not panicking though because I prefer slow style over fast fashion and hopefully the outfits I post can be enjoyed regardless to whether I shot them yesterday or a few weeks ago.

This outfit features a knit I received from my mum back at Christmas time and as much as I love it, I needed a moment before I could style it, as I wanted to do it justice. Most pieces in my wardrobe are bought with the intention of knowing exactly how I’m going to style and wear them and then there are the few exceptions that need some time to just breathe before I’m able to formulate an outfit. But I always find it’s worth the wait, rather then rushing in because I’m excited and then feeling bad due to not liking my outfit. Gosh, I make sounding getting dressed like such serious business! Sometimes it is I guess and then sometimes it isn’t, depends on my mood? I loved how styling this gorgeous green knit looked with the simplistic whites thus creating a stark contrast, which really highlights the intensity of the forest green colour as well as the knitted ribbon detailing within the vest.

Well the good thing about always being behind on posting my outfit shoots, is that I got plenty to fall back on in this bizarre time that is quarantine life! It’s like we’re in a movie but it’s real life and My Goodness doesn’t it feel very real. But I’m one of those people that when something in my life is feeling out of control, I find comfort in regaining control in the smaller things that I can still do, the things that feel normal to me and evoke small moments of joy whilst also taking my mind of whatever it is that is feeling unhinged. So I gotta keep posting my outfits and today’s look has an overall minimalist feel which I amped up by choosing textured pieces.

I think this outfit works well for an early springtime look, a nice mix of lighter and heavier materials, just the kinda style recipe you want for the spring.  Now I know the majority of us aren’t going to be planning on going out anytime soon and so why worry about what a perfect spring outfit in 2020 looks like but sometimes during times like these, it’s nice to plan and visualise like everything is going as normal. It gives us something to focus on and hopefully distract us from the horrid situation and maybe just maybe we’ll manifest it into reality. Either way it serves to help fill our time, so go ahead and make your spring Pinterest board, it will help I’m sure.

Sending you love and light,

After the Christmas break I was left feeling like I am in a place where i want to take a slightly more leisurely pace with m blogposts. Now, I’ll admit I often feel like this going into the new year and then I slip into the habit of pushing myself and I don’t know why because my blog is a place for me to share my creativity, it’s a hobby that continues to be an enjoyable experience and yes as much I would it to be place of earning also because who doesn’t want to make money doing what they love but the truth is I make no money from it apart from a small amount of commission via affiliate links but that’s few and far between because I still don’t really know how to utilise that.

Anyway, I really just want to get back to the natural flow of things, there is no need to put unwarranted pressure on myself to get posts published within a certain time frame. I’ll edit photos when I can in a manner that calm and enjoyable. I want to be completely present whilst raising my baby girl, she is almost one and time feels like it’s zoomed by and I honestly don’t want to miss a moment and so panicking to get a post done is just a mindset that I’m focusing on changing. Blogging is fun and I want it remain that way.

Onto my outfit and this shirt jacket was actually one of the first pieces I bought back at the beginning of autumn but oddly I only started wearing and styling it in December and now I can’t stop wearing it! I love this jacket and it’s quickly becoming my go-to piece, I find it effortless to style and as a full time mum but who still loves the creative process of getting dressed, effortless items to style have now become an important aspect of my clothing choices. Keeping it simple, androgynous and a little edgy for today’s look and I hope you like it.

A Colour Pallet Fit For Autumn

Not to say that these colours are restricted to Autumn but I do think they work well for the Fall and styling these colours together was like an early nod to the cooler season whilst it was still so warm. This is technically from my summer outfits but I think it’s fitting for the transition of summer to autumn, based on the colour pallet. This passing summer I seemed to acquire a lot of new shorts, a few of those I picked up in the sales. These were From Marks & Spencer and i’m trying to think of ways I could wear them going into the autumn, I guess I need more summer in order to wear some of the items I just feel I have not had enough time with. Its like, when you’re young and you make a friend/boyfriend/girlfriend during the summer holidays and then the summer comes to an end and they have to leave and you’re just not ready to say goodbye! Yep, thats like the relationship between me and my new shorts. This weekend we are heading to the beach for a family reunion, which I am excited about, seeing a lot of family members I haven’t seen in years. I’m half excited and half nervous about taking a 7 month baby on a two hour road trip to the beach, where I will probably spend most of the day trying to stop her from eating sand! Yay, mum life.

Sending you love and light and whatever your weekend plans are, I hope you enjoy every moment of them.
